Social Studies Network

DESCRIPTION
The program is specialized in social studies education and instruction, encompassing activities aimed at high-level professional development and qualification. It exposes educators to new global experiences, both within the local content and context.
Social Studies Network
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Provide opportunities for social studies teachers to discuss their understanding of basic philosophy and the principles for teaching geography, history and civics
- Introduce social studies teachers to contemporary approaches to teaching subjects such as: Inquiry-based learning (IBL), concept-based learning (CBL), project-based learning (PBL), and problem-based learning (PBL)
- Engage social studies teachers in assignments based on lessons from social studies subject that show how these lessons are planned and how they use various assessments to improve their students’ learning
- Develop social studies teachers' understanding and skills of how to use technology in teaching their subjects including the use of digital mapping software, a digital compass, and a Global Positioning System (GPS)
- Develop teachers’ perception of an advanced view of how social studies contribute to the formation of good citizenship from the perspective of civil society and the democratic approach
